چکیده

A 14-year-old child was diagnosed with primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of pelvis. Baseline 99mTc-methtylene diphosphonate (MDP) bone scintigraphy done to know the extent of the disease, although of suboptimal quality, revealed involvement of right hemipelvis (A, arrowhead) (Fig. 1). Also, there was a focus of increased radiotracer uptake in the occipital bone (B, arrow). Since the patient had no history of trauma, in the clinical context the lesion was thought to be metastasis. The patient underwent chemotherapy and was again sent for bone scintigraphy, for response monitoring. The follow up planar bone scintigraphy done 6 weeks after completion of chemotherapy showed significant reduction in radiotracer uptake in the right hemipelvis (C, arrowhead), but the skull lesion still showed intense radiotracer uptake (D, arrow). To characterize the skull lesion, the patient underwent hybrid single photon emission tomography-computed

Purpose: To report a case of the congenital primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the orbit. Case Report: The patient was a 2-week-old neonate referred to the oculoplastic clinic with right eye proptosis from birth. The neonate was a full term with a history of difficult vaginal delivery. At an initial examination, the ecchymosis of the medial right upper lid was noted. At an initial CT sca...

Multiple brown tumors in a patient with parathyroid adenoma depicting affinity for both 99mTc -pertechnetate and 99mTc-MIBI: Evaluation with hybrid SPECT/CT

Parathyroid adenoma involving a single parathyroid gland is the underlying cause of 80-85% of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Skeletal system is significantly affected by PHPT. Brown tumors are known to have affinity for 99mTc-MIBI. We report a rare case of PHPT presenting with diffuse bony pain, high calcium level and significantly elevated alkaline phosphatase level. 99m<...

Rare and challenging extra-axial brain lesions: CT and MRI findings with clinico-radiological differential diagnosis and pathological correlation.

There are many kinds of extra-axial brain tumors and tumor-like lesions, and definitive diagnosis is complicated in some cases. In this pictorial essay, we present rare and challenging extra-axial brain lesions including neuroenteric cyst, primary leptomeningeal melanomatosis, isolated dural neurosarcoidosis, intradiploic epidermoid cyst, ruptured dermoid cyst, intraventricular cavernoma, and c...

99mTc-MDP uptake in SPECT/CT by a bladder hernia simulating inguinal metastasis: A case report

A 72-year-old male with a history of prostate cancer and high prostate specific antigen levels underwent 99mtechnetium-methylene diphosphonate (99mTc-MDP) single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT), to identify bone metastasis. The patient possessed no previous history of serious illnesses or surgical procedures and no family history of malignancies. A whole-body ...
